The Shoreline Acoustic Music Society meets at 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month at the Hygienic Arts Center, 79-83 Bank Street, New London, Connecticut.

We promote the performance and appreciation of acoustic music by giving musicians and enthusiasts information on venues, upcoming concerts and workshops. We also list open mics, informal jam sessions and other opportunities for players and listeners to get together.

Though purists may take acoustic to mean non-electric, we do not exclude all performers with pickups, amplifiers or microphones. Likewise, though we focus on roots/traditional/folk music, we welcome opportunities to collaborate with those whose backgrounds are in classical, jazz, world and other musical genres.

We also maintain a music file-sharing archive, offer classified advertisements for musical instruments and services, post performer profiles and provide links to related organizations.

Membership is free, but we encourage members to join the Hygienic Art Center to help promote the visual and theater arts, as well as music, and to offset the cost of using the New London center as the society's home base.
